IDrive for Mac is an application with the minimal user interface to backup your personal or business computers. Users can manage and monitor backups of their computers from the web-interface. The Dashboard is a centralized web-console which serves as a single point ofremote management for your computers. Once the thin client is set up on your computers, you can perform the following operations via the Dashboard:
*Perform immediate backups or schedule backup jobs, restore data and more.
*Modify your backup sets or settings and push the changes across all devices.
*Remotely upgrade to the latest version of the app on any computer.
*Create policies with required settings and propagate them.
*Monitor and keep track of the status of your backup activities.
The IDrive backup system offers you the possibility to backup your files online, by uploading them to the IDrive cloud. To get started, you must register for a free account which is limited to 5GB storage space. You can also upgrade your subscription in order to increase the storage space and to get access to more complex capabilities, such as the possibility to create multiple accounts: the fee depends on the plan you choose.
Once you connect the IDrive application to your account, the utility allows you to select the files and folders you want to include in your backup: simply browse the contents of your disk and check the box associated with the respective item. When you are done, simply press the backup button to start the upload.
To make sure your information remains safe, the files will be encrypted using the 256 bit AES algorithm: the encryption key is defined by the user, and will not be stored on the IDrive servers. Since the IDrive app is using incremental backups, after the initial backup, it should not use too much bandwidth (the transfer will include only the modifications.)
Your files and folders will be synced in real-time across all the devices that you link using IDrive Client for macOS. Sync storage does not impact your backup storage and matches your backup storage limit. Quick backup and retrieval of your data in less than a week via physical storage shipment, ensuring no bandwidth usage. If you add a second Mac Desktop, the files from your second Mac won’t automatically merge with the files on your first Mac.
